Engine block vibrations: An indicator of knocking in the SI engine

چکیده

The factors influencing the onset of knocking have a significant impact on how well SI engine performs. Hence, efficacy in determining and controlling knock is key factor improving engine's performance. This paper provides insight into role block vibrations occurrence using Empirical Mode Decomposition Short-Time Fourier Transform. To comprehend behaviour vibration amid normal combustion conditions, signals are analyzed compared with incylinder pressure fluctuations. features extracted from Decomposition. first Intrinsic Function (IMF) thus obtained used to generate Hilbert spectrum for detecting knock. Similarly, ShortTime Transform also performed IMF obtain spectrogram. findings demonstrate unequivocally that higher frequency variations produced when occurs. These results indicate combination can be effectively

Cooled EGR for a Turbo Charged SI Engine to Reduce Knocking and Fuel Consumption

Cooled exhaust gas recirculation is emerging as a promising technology to address the increasing demand for fuel economy without compromising performance in turbocharged spark injection engines. The objectives of this study are to quantify the increase in knock resistance and to decrease the enrichment and emission at high load. For this purpose four stroke turbo charged Spark Ignition engine (...

Fuels With a High Enthalpy of Evaporation in Si Engine

The increasing use of fuels derived from oil, deepens concern about the fact that non-fossil fuels have to be considered as the fuels of the future. Among the alternatives, hydrogen produced from the abundant sources of water, seems to be one of the best, but it suffers drawbacks with regard to combustion, storage and transportation. The other alternatives are ammonia, produced from unlimited s...

Derivation of Specific Heat Rejection Correlation in an SI Engine; Experimental and Numerical Study

The thermal balance analysis is a useful method to determine energy distribution and efficiency of internal combustion (IC) engines. In engines cooling concepts, estimation of heat transfer to brake power ratio, as one of the most significant performance characteristics, is highly demanded. In this paper, investigation of energy balance and derivation of specific heat rejection is carried out e...

Influence of varying timing angle on performance of an SI engine: An experimental and numerical study

Engine performance depends on two main factors of engine speed and ignition time. Ignition timing can affect engine life, fuel economy and engine power. In this paper, to study engine performance of Peugeot 206 TU3A with comparison ratio of 10.5:1 and displacement of 1361CC in MATLAB software, a two-zone burned/unburned model with the fuel burning rate described by aWiebe function was used for ...

Modeling of a turbocharged SI engine

Turbo charged SI engines are a major possibility in the current trend of down-sized engines with preserved drivability performance. Considering control and supervision it is favorable to have a mean value model to be used e.g. in observer design. Such models of turbo engines are similar to those of naturally aspirated engines, but there are some special characteristics, e.g. the interconnected ...
